Prayer Before A Meal

Blessed are you, O Lord God, King of the Universe, for you give us food to sustain our lives and make our hearts glad; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

-from The Book of Common Prayer

Loving Father, we thank you for your countless blessings, especially for the gift of your Son, for the Church, for our faith, and now for this meal. Bless this food and the love that unites us. Keep us forever grateful and generous in your service. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

For these and all his mercies, God’s holy Name be blessed and praised; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

-from The Book of Common Prayer

Praise the Lord, who is so good. For his love endures forever.

Praise the God of gods. For his love endures forever.

Praise the Lord of lords. For his love endures forever.

He freed us from our foes. For his love endures forever.

And gives food to all flesh. For his love endures forever.

Praise the God of heaven. For his love endures forever.

-from Psalm 136

The eyes of all wait upon You, O Lord, and You give them their food in due season; You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing. Lord God, heavenly Father, bless us and these Your gifts which we receive from Your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

–From The Small Catechism of Martin Luther

Be present at our table, Lord, Be here and everywhere adored. Your people bless, and grant that we may feast in paradise with you. Amen.
