The Heart of a Servant and Faith Like a Child
The active faith of a righteous person is precious and gives life to others (Psalm 1 and Proverbs 31:10-31). Others may try to hurt God's beloved, but God upholds the lives of those who trust in him (Jeremiah 11:18-20 and Psalm 54). We must continue to live wisely, seek peace, and draw near to God (James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a). Jesus chose to be a servant for the weak and humble. He calls us to do the same as we walk with him towards the cross (Mark 9:30-37).

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners...but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither....

Practicing Prayer
Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.  -The Book of Common Prayer
